
Along the way Angela discovered her love and talent for writing. In 2015 Angela stepped out on faith and submitted her play, The Vessel by Which, to a Playwright Festival and won 1st prize. After a second submission the following year yielded the same 1st prize winning success, Angela’s journey in the world of theatre was forever transformed. Angela’s screen play credits includes, The Conglomerate.
Playwright, Angela Y. Rice, was born and raised on the South side of Houston, TX. She graduated from Ross Sterling High School. As a promising theatre student where, she amassed multiple awards for Theatre Dramatic Duet, Pros readings and Public Speaking, including the honor of Best Actress at each level of the UIL One Act competition. With a love for the theatre burning in her young heart, she opted to continue her education at Prairie View A&M University in Texas as a theatre major. Later she would attend Houston Community College where she majored in film.
Professional Theatre was next on the horizon for this excited new actress. She was seen in rolls at many famed Houston Theatres. They include but are not limited to WHERE WERE YOUIN ’65 (lead GLORIA at the HOBBY CENTER ); CHRISTMAS IS COMING UP TOWN (featured vocalist ENSEMBLE THEATRE ); MOTOWN REVIEW Baseman Productions (featured vocalist MILLER OUTDOOR THEATRE); MOON ON A RAINBOW SHAWL (lead SOPHIA , ENCORE THEATRE); DREAM GIRLS (lead EPHIE WHITE THE GREAT CAROUSO THEATRE); WHILEY AND THE HARRY MAN (NARRATOR 4, ENSEMBLE THEATRE ).
Directing was next on the challenge board and Angela dove in head first. Returning to the famed Ensemble Theatre and debuting at the all new Match Theatre in downtown Houston. Directing credits include but are not limited to; Of Mice and Men – Encore Theatre (AD); When Harlem Was En’Vouge – Ensemble Theatre (AD); and Cops Lives Matter – Match Theatre. Children’s theatre directorial credits includes but are not limited to: Episodes Fables Barn Yard Bash Ensemble Theatre; Anansi the Spider and the Middle Passage Ensemble Theatre; How the Elves Saved Christmas Ensemble Theatre.

Accomplished, vocalist, songwriter, motivational speaker, private performance coach, and voice over actress Angela is also a mother of two and grandmother to a beautiful baby girl. She is also the Founder of Village Privilege, a non- profit organization that services underprivileged youth. Founded on the belief that by bridging communities and inspiring them to be empowered; we can rebuild our villages from the inside out. As a member of the corporate sector, Angela is a certified chef and Entrepreneur (Ms. Anne’s Fancy French Toast and The Koughee Shop).
